This was built in 1860 as a National School by Henry Edwardes Handley (1835-92) of the Culverthorpe family.

It closed in October 1969 with children transferring to the primary school in Helpringham.

White's Directory 1872 states "There is a neat schoolroom, accommodating 30 children, which was built and given to the parish in 1860, by its then owner, Captain Handley"

The north transept of the church has a three-light window with geometrical tracery in the form of trefoiled circles.

This is considered to be from the medieval church which predates the present Victorian work of Kirk (1870-71).

The church of St Andrew was extensively rebuilt by Charles Kirk of Sleaford in 1870-71. Some of the north transept from an earlier period was retained.

Inside are some fragments of notable Anglo-Saxon sculpture in the form of interlace patterns.

Kelly's Directory 1930 reports :-

"The old church of St. Andrew, known to have been rebuilt in 1330-40 by Sir Roger Pedwardine, consisted of a central tower, nave, transeptal chapels, aisles and chancel:

this ancient fabric, with the exception of the north transept, fell down in 1802, and a small, mean-looking building was erected in its place in the following year from part of the old material; the present church, erected almost on the same site in 1870-1, is a building of stone in the Decorated style, consisting of chancel, nave, south porch and a small western bell-cot with a crocketed spirelet containing one bell, dated 1604:

the north transept or St. Mary's chapel is part of the ancient structure, and has on the north side a recessed arch enclosing a tombstone of grey marble, with marginal inscription in Norman French to Dame Alice Pedwardine, daughter of Sir Henry de Longchampe, ob. 1330, and wife of Roger Pedwardine:

on the floor is an ancient slab with matrices of brasses, and against the west wall is an altar tomb of marble and alabaster with pillars supporting a canopy under which lies the recumbent effigy, in armour, of Sir Thomas Horsman ; epitaphs, disposed on two black marble tablets, commemorate the knight, ob. Nov. 26, 1610, and Elizabeth (Hussey) his wife ; on the floor is a stone inscribed to Thomas Horsman esq. his nephew (ob. Ap. 2, 1631), who erected the monument, and Mary (Tredwaye) his wife, with brass effigies of both:

there is also a memorial to William Yorke, of Leasingham, ob. Mar. 16, 1681, Elizabeth (Walgrave) his wife and nine children ; and another to William, son of Sir William York kt. ob. 2 Jan. 1725, with the arms of York impaling Oakes :

the brass lectern was the gift, in 1922, of Miss E. Foottit, in memory of the late Mrs. James Frederick Foottit :

White's Directory 1872 has :-

"Domesday survey records that there was a church here in the 11th century.

It was rebuilt by Roger Pedwardine, in 1340, and consisted of a nave, north chapel, south chapel, and north and south aisles.

This was a handsome cruciform building, having its tower in the centre, but having become greatly dilapidated, it was taken down in 1802, except the north transept, to which a new nave and low tower of debased workmanship were added.

The north transept, or St. Mary's Chapel, is supported by several carved buttresses, in each of which is a beautifully ornamented niche.

This church, too, having in its turn given way, owing to its  imperfect construction, the foundation of a new building, almost on the old site, was laid October 28th, 1870, by the present rector.

It is a handsome, well-constructed building, consisting of nave and well-developed chancel, and accommodates about 120 persons.

The style is Geometrical Decorated, and harmonises with that of the north chapel, which still remains unrestored.

The chancel is handsomely stalled in oak, and the floor of the sacrarium and of the nave is laid with Minton's tiles.

The pre-Norman fragments, built into the west wall, behind the font, form an interesting feature in the building, and are evidences of the early date at which a church stood upon this site.

St. Mary's Chapel contains a superb marble monument, with a fine recumbent effigy of Sir Thos. Horsman, who died in 1610 ; and a black marble tomb of Dame Alicia Pedwardine"
